Ursataur

Chronus isn’t the only legend on Salaman island. There has always been the story of Ursataur, the First Bear. Centuries before man came to Salaman Island, Ursataur ruled. He was the size of a house and covered in spines. When the island was threatened by Mukari, elves from the sea, it was Ursataur who protected the lands. The legend says that when those with impure motives would poison the land once more, the first bear’s spirit would return, and awaken the great dire bears of old to safeguard the island.

And now it seems the bears stir once more. Romendar clashed with one such large bear, but set aside his weapon indicating he had no wish to harm the creature. In a binding ritual with the wilden, the bear mortally wounded itself and then inflicted a horrific rend attack on Romendar with its bloodied claw. Now, Romendar senses the spirit of Ursataur within and has a renewed vigor to protect the island.
